Fire Chief Laubach and Judge Visit Washington Students

On April 1, Washington Elementary students enjoyed a special visit from Allentown Fire Chief Lee Laubach and Judge – the department’s special dog. Students were treated to a demonstration of the rare and important job that Judge has as one of three arson detection dogs in the state of Pennsylvania. Chief Laubach worked with Judge to demonstrate how hard they work to eliminate the dangerous arson crimes in Allentown. The students were amazed at all the work that goes into being an arson detector.

Judge is a 6-year-old yellow Labrador retriever who began training for this important job when he was just a pup. His training was funded through a grant from State Farm Insurance and his monthly veterinary care is donated by a local veterinarian.

The students and teachers are grateful to Chief Laubach and Judge for a great and informative assembly.
